Compatibility with Varia Edge Explore and Ride with GPS app

According to the Garmin pages, the Edge Explore is not compatible with both the Varia RVR315 (https://buy.garmin.com/en-CA/CA/p/669024#devices) and Ride with GPS (https://ridewithgps.com/help/iq/). I'm trying to work out whether this is really the case or a mistake.

It is not comparable with the RWGPS IQ APP however I don't see that as a problem. You can connect your Garmin Connect acount to your RideWithGPS account. Then if you pin a route it will be transferred to your Edge Explore and if you save a ride it will be transferred to your RideWithGPS account. As far as the radar I don't have a RVR315 but my RTL510 and RTL515 both work with it so I would assume the 315 would work with it.

I'm interested in your comment." if you pin a route it will be transferred to your Edge". I thought that transfer will only take place if the Ridewithgps Connect app is installed. I have a Edge 1030 and use the Ridewithgps app frequently but can I sync the route without using the app?

Yes. The link I should have included above is https://ridewithgps.com/help/garmin-courses After you have your RideWithGPS account and your Garmin Connect account set up per the link anything you pin will transfer to your Garmin when it syncs with Garmin Connect. If you have a route that is already pined and you want it to transfer unpin it then pin it and it will transfer. To me it's easier than when I used the app on my old Garmin.

I have my wife's Edge Explore and my 1030+ both setup on my Garmin Express account. When I pin a route it will transfer to both Garmins. She doesn't save her rides so only my ride is transferred to Garmin Connect and RideWithGPS.

When Ridewithgps announced the new method of downloading routes, I tried to set my account up for it. I followed their instructions and unpinned routes and repinned them but the route never transfered. I just went through the whole process again with no results. Do the pinned routes show up on Garmin Connect mobile? I've had my Ridewithgps account linked to Garmin Connect for years and also have it set to transfer courses.

Yes if you tap the 3 bars in the upper left, tap Training then Courses you should see all pinned RideWithGPS corses.

I've tried many times pinning and unpinng routes but they just don't transfer over. Perhaps if I disconnect from Ridewithgps and Garmin Connect and then connect again it may work. Seems strange that the Ridewithgps connect app works perfectly.

RWGPS never released their app for the Explore. (There isn't any reason they couldn't have.)

You can use my IQ app to download RWGPS pinned routes.
