Error: Maps do not have routable roads in this area

Hello,

I live in Sydney, Australia and recently purchased the new Edge Explore from a European cycling website.

After receiving the unit I went to http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl, selected 'Routable Bicycle (Openfietsmap Lite)' for the map type, downloaded the map for Australia (and Sydney in particular) then copied it over to the Edge, replacing gmapbmap.img.

When I boot up the unit I now get the maps for Australia, however if I try to click on the map and select a destination to route to, I get the error: "Maps do not have routable roads in this area."

Any assistance would be appreciated.
  • Gmapbmap.img is the basemap. You don't really want to replace that. It's possible that you can't use the basemap name.

The units let you have multiple maps. Maps you add can have any name.

Your problem is that your map isn't enabled.

Use a different name and enable the map on the unit.
  • Thanks dpawlyk - that worked.

For others that stumble across this forum, what I did was restore the original gmapbmap.img, named my Australian maps 'gmapaus.img' and copied that file across, then made sure that both the base map and the Australian map was enabled. Routing now works without issue on the Explore :)
  • Great. I'll close this thread.
