Connect IQ apps and widgets not working (v12.70)

It seem I can not get any apps or widgets to run on the Edge Explore 820? I can install new data field via Connect IQ Store, but not apps or widgets. The download to the device seems successful - at least I get a message "Download complete" after the sync and there are new "*.PRG" files in the "Garmin/App" folder when I connect the device to my computer. 

For new data fields, I find these under Connect IQ in the data fields section. I can't find any of the apps or widgets I tried to install. When I select the IQ button on the home screen, it tells me to download apps in Connect IQ mobile first.
