Known Issue: Sync Issue with Edge 510/810

We are currently aware of various issues occurring when initially attempting to sync an Edge 510/810 using the Garmin Connect Mobile. This issue may include a red "sync error" appearing at the bottom of the screen.

This issue will be fixed with an update to Garmin Connect Mobile, which should be released soon.

If you are experiencing this issue, the following temporary workaround can be attempted until the update is released:

NOTE: Before following these steps, please manually upload the rides from your Edge device to the Garmin Connect website. You can do this by following the steps listed in the following FAQ article: How do I manually upload data from USB devices to Garmin Connect?

1. Power on your Edge device.
2. Tap on the "Folders" icon.
3. Scroll down and Tap on "Delete".
4. Tap on "All Rides".
5. Tap on the Check Mark to confirm deletion.
6. Once deleted, reboot both the Edge and Android device.

You should will now be able to sync new rides from your Edge to the Garmin Connect Mobile Android app without experiencing this error.

    Thank you very much, worked perfect (even with an Iphone 5S where I had the same problem.

    I did this but still cannot sync. When will Garmin fix the issue. It is discouraging to spend money on a product that does not perform as expected.

    We've confirmed that this is an issue with firmware on the Edge device, itself, and not the Garmin Connect Mobile app. Our engineers are currently looking into a fix that will be released in a later firmware update for the Edge 510 and 810. I apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused.

    In the meantime, please try the workaround steps listed in the original post once more. It's a workaround that has been pretty successful for most of these occurrences.

    And when are your engineers ready with this fix? You know, your products are not for free and as a customer I expect that it should work just 100%. As writing today the Garmin Connect page doesn´t work either. Trying to do a manual upload, hitting the button, just sends me back to the start page. Brilliant...

    I am experiencing problems with syncronizing the other way round. When i want to send routes from GCM to my Edge 510 there is always the alert 'download error' (german 'download Fehler'). But the Route is indeed transfered but without altitude information and with distance 0km. Is this error part oft your above described issue or is it just one more of your several issues? Both the mobile app and the device have the newest update.

    I just upgraded the software to 3.1 on my Edge 510, but it still unable to pair with my phone by bluetooth. I deleted the device from my phone list and hope to get a new connection, but it couldn't found the Edge at all. So I tried it on my wife's phone and the result remained the same.

    The bluetooth system is definitely has huge issue since the software 2.8

    We're in the middle of June and I still have sync problems on bluetooth between the 510 & iphone.
    There's always a sync error uploading the ride to the iphone if I'm not on wireless. Just being connected by bluetooth doesn't sync so what's the point
    of having the iphone app ? Just sync straight to Strava please, end of problem !

    C'mon Garmin!! 3 (three!!) months ago you confirmed that there is an issue regarding bt and sync. After that no news. You call this customer service?? Update the firmware now!!

    Hi,
    I have tried everything suggested and the unit will not blue tooth connect with my phone. I have the latest firmware, its now June 2014. I have an improtant ride coming up in two weeks so presume that I will have to send it back for a third replacement unit (Edge 510). I only bought it for the Garmin Connect function an the first uint work 3 times, this new one once. There should be a lot of people following me later this month. Not good PR for Garmin.
