820 not recognised by Garmin Express & no WiFi

Hi all, I have A Garmin Edge 820 & I cannot get Express to 'see' it. (I also have the same problem with my Garmin 55 Dash Camera)

I have tried everything & have also just bought a genuine data cable. All to no avail unfortunately.

It will connect to my iPhone 13 via bluetooth but won't sync (says it's busy) I have done a few hard resets, uninstalled everything, restarted my MacBook.

Nothing seems to work :(

It has the latest software (12.70)

My computer is a MacBook Pro 2022 if that is of any help?

Are you plugging your 820 into the PC with a USB cable? Sometimes the quality of the cable is a fault. Some cheaper cables don't work with Garmin devices into a PC other than charging it, this has happened to me previously. Try a different type if cable.

Sorry just realised you've already bought a genuine cable. Have you tried it on another PC to see if that works?

Yes? I have tried it in 3 different computers now. 2x Mac & 1x Windows.
It doesn’t show up in any of them

Does the 820 charge when plugged into a PC with the USB cable? And does it get detected as storage drive by the OS?

Hi there, yes, it charges the 820 but it will not recognise it as a seperate drive. I also have a Garmin 55 Dash Camera which is also not recognised (or charged when plugged in) My daughters Windows Laptop recognises them though but still won't work with Express.

So just for clarification, the Windows laptop shows your 820 & 55 Dash as storage drives?

On your mac try checking the Security and Privacy settings shown in this article.

Hi there, It shows the 55 as a separate drive. It shows the 820 as being corrupted???

It might best if you contact Garmin support, you can initiate a live chat with them and they'll trouble shoot your issues.

Yes. I tried that. All they said was I could buy new devices at a discounted price.
In other words, no help at all ;(

IDK if this will help,but have you tried a full reset?

Turn device off
Hold Lap/Reset and Start/Stop
Press and release the power button
Continue to hold only Lap/Reset and Start/Stop
Release Lap/Reset and Start/Stop when the Garmin Logo is cleared
