Map update causing loading maps boot loop

Recently acquired an 820 to see if I prefer it to my 810. I noticed a lot of random backup files so I deleted all data from the device from which it automatically restructured the folders etc itself. All boots well, but when I install maps via garmin express it fails to boot past “loading maps” after multiple re downloads. I did copy and paste contents prior and copied over again as time zone was wrong. But still having map issues.

if I copy over my talky toaster without garmin maps it works fine  but time is wrong

and advice is highly appreciated

  • IDK.  In the past I have deleted everything off the 820 and successfully got the map downloaded and going again.  The only thing I can say with mine is map downloads take a really really long time, and then the first boot after a map download takes a really long time.

  • Good shout. Im used to it loading instantly. Your right about the download times. It has the 3 dots pulsing. I’ll try again a wait a little while
