Ride not saved

Hi, I have just completed my longest ride ever and I got back home and saved my ride. However when I went to upload the ride to garmin connect via my phone as normal the ride had disappeared from my Garmin edge 820. The ride was initially saved on my edge 820 but whilst trying to upload the ride to Garmin connect it just vanished. This is incredibly frustrating.

Please can somebody help

Regards

Damien

  • Try connecting your 820 directly to a PC or laptop, see if the ride is showing in the activities folder, if so, you can upload it from there.

Hi Lee, thanks for your response. I tried doing that but the activity is not there. Is there anything else I could try. Really dont want to loose my ride.

  • Sorry, i'm not sure there is anything else you can do, I don't suppose you have your connect automatically sharing your rides with Strava? If you do, you can get it from there. Someone else might have a way of doing it.

Yes when I upload rides to garmin connect it automatically uploads to strava but the issues is that the activity is not on my Garmin edge so wont upload to connect. It's just bizarre how it uploaded and I seen it there with my own 2 eyes, then it just disappears. 134 miles that hasn't been recorded. FFS. Cheers Lee

  • I've read on another forum that someone else experienced something similar to you and was able to find it using this program, i've not looked into it any further, but might be worth a go.  I tend to have a backup method when i go riding, i have a Garmin watch that i use to record rides as well as my 820, as something like this would really pee me off.  https://downloads.tomsguide.com/Undelete-Active,0301-2917.html

I will give it a go and see if it works. Yes peeing me off is an understatement, I am livid. The amount of time and energy ive put into recovering this data is more than the flipping ride itself. You pay hundreds of pounds for these products and they cant even save a ride. Thanks again

Hi did you manage to solve this issue. I have just experienced the same thing. Saved the ride ( recommended 72 hr recovery) went to upload to GC but like you experienced my activity had vanished.

I didnt no. I had to enter it manually in the end. Incredibly frustrating. I tried everything but did not work. However others have said they managed to recover the file. Not sure how
