Frozen Edge 820 mid ride

I have an Edge 820 which is paired to a Garmin speed/cadence sensor and tickr HRM. The unit has worked impeccably over the years until today.

While out for a ride it froze. The unit wouldn't respond to any inputs either on the screen or the physical buttons and all data on the screen remained static.

I had to do the hold-the-power-button-for-10-seconds restart to get it back to life. It froze briefly again shortly after that.

This has never happened before and none of the settings or hardware have been changed.

As far as freezing mid ride, I suggest doing a full reset.

Turn device off
Hold Lap/Reset and Start/Stop
Press and release the power button
Continue to hold only Lap/Reset and Start/Stop
Release Lap/Reset and Start/Stop when the Garmin Logo is cleared
The unit will restart and clear non-vol

You may want to first save your settings like screen setups:
