Shuts Off After 20 Seconds

After syncing my Edge 820 (v. 11.20) using Garmin Express, my 820 now turns off after 20 seconds.  It doesn't stay on long enough for me to even check if it's the Sleep mode, or even to reset it.  Garmin Express doesn't even recognize it and neither does my computer.

Does anyone have a fix?

    I think i got the exactly problem with mine.

    I just bought mine and ive mountet what needed to be mountet together with my dad and when i got home played around with it and suddenly it does not stay on for more than about 20-30 sec.

    my Edge 820 is completly charged

    in the top is say´s something about downloading.....and then suddenly it fails and shortly after that i shuts down

    i got into settings and did a reset and that seems to have fixed it.

    Only thing i did before that could have provoked that boot after 20 sec "bug" was installing Komoot app´s on my Edge 820

  • i’v got same problem today... i just synced my edge with garmin express and i ended up with complete restore of edge

    after restoring everything seems ok except  i’m not able to make light network with my varia radar

    not to mention, my varia radar is disconnecting while riding with 11.20 fw

    i’m really getting tired with this buggy software and with all garmin

  • btw. here is how to reset edge from booting loop, which did work for me

    1. Turn device off.
    2. Power device on.
    3. While booting up, press and hold upper-left corner of the touch window ONCE the copyright information appears.
    4. Continue pressing the left hand corner of the screen until you receive the prompt.

    modrej just for the fun of it. did you install anything before that problem showed it self ?

    Ok just thought i was onto something with an app being the one who got the unit to shut off.

    Thanks very much for that. I'd already exchange one unit thinking I'd got a duff, was just about to do the same again when I found your thread - and it worked, all fine now - but how did you suss it out in the first place?.

    Not  good of Garmin to release new software that just creates problems.
