Pc won't recognize edge 820 via usb

hello, i tried to connect my edge to PC, via USB: but FILE EXPLORED doesn't show the device: tired to change USB port, event PC, but i can't see my edge at ALL!
Suggestions?
  • Has it worked previously? If so, you might try different USB cables. Some cables are only for charging and don't conduct data, and it is possible a data cable may be damaged. Also check there's no dust or lint in the devices usb port. Try a different USB port on your computer if there is one. And then there's the usual reboot and try again.
  • tried everything, different cables even different PC... no way!
  • Use the cable that has GARMIN written on it.

    used!
  • Try forcing it into mass storage mode
Turn unit off. Hold the lap/reset button while plugging the unit into the USB. Continue holding the lap/reset for 30 seconds and the unit should go to mass storage.

If that does not work inspect the USB port on the Edge and make sure that none of the pins are damaged or bent. You could also try cleaning the pins by applying some electrical contact cleaner to the port and working the USB cable in and out around 10 times to clean the contacts. If you don't have an electrical contact cleaner you can use some WD-40.
  • Perfect, connection via (holding lap / reset) works, thank you. At least that's how I can load gpx to 820, because otherwise it can't be connected.
