New Public Beta 10.25 Now Available

New Beta software for the Edge 820 has been released. Full change log, instructions and software for installing the beta can be found here.
• For any issues that you encounter please fill out the form included in the download and attach it to an email to "][email protected]
• . Please note that you may not get a response to the email unless we need more information on the issue you report.

• Although this software is believed to be reliable, it has not yet been released for production and should be used at your own risk.
Changes made from version 10.24 to 10.25:
• Fixed elevation zooming issue with large courses/activities/segments (>100mi or km).
• Fixed ANT sensor battery low notifications.
[h=2]Installation Instructions[/h]
• Connect your Edge 820 to your computer using the USB cable.
• Download and unzip Edge820_1025Beta.zip. Place the GUPDATE.GCD file in the \GARMIN folder of your device's internal storage drive.
• Disconnect your device from the computer, approve the update on the Edge, and wait for the update to finish.
• If you would like to revert to the last public release software, follow the above steps but place the GUPDATE-1020.GCD file in the \GARMIN folder. Rename the file to GUPDATE.GCD before disconnecting your device. NOTE: If you revert to an older version of software, all of your settings will be reset to defaults. NOTE: For this beta, 10.20 and 10.00 are the same software. 10.20 is being provided as the recovery software intentionally and should be treated the same as 10.00.
• Excellent! I've got a brand new 820 arriving this week, will try this straight up and report back any issues
• Hi shawn.
I have a bug In the Notifications of WHATSAPP, If the name of the group or person who sends a message contains a emoticon, the notification on the GPS is seen, but does not leave the icon to answer with short message. I repeat, emoticon on behalf of the group or person, not in the message itself.

Another question, we know when they will be able to edit the quick response messages?? In some Fenix is that you can through the app connect.

Last, it would be good to implement a control of the MP3 player of the phone. Would be very useful for roller? days.

Thank for everything and forgive me for my poor English
• Hi all.

To say that the signature added with the Whatsapp messages appears cropped... see attached image.

Regards.

Glad to see that updates are still being pushed out for this device. I don't want to sound ungrateful but to honest it's pretty disappointing that it's taken so long to fix the first item here. I was an early adopter of the 820 so have been using it for well over 2 years now; at first this issue conditioned me into into not zooming in or out on the elevation screen and eventually I just gave up on it altogether.

It'll be nice for my 820 to revive one of the basic functions of my old 800, some 3 years down the line, but that's a fairly sad state of affairs for Garmin.
• Hi,

My new 820 is going fine with this software. I only had one small issue and that was the unit restarted when I paired my Pioneer power meter. Once it restarted I paired it again and it was fine.

Nah I didn't use Auto FTP, I put it in manually.
• Any idea of the battery penalty for GPS+ Galileo vs. GPS+GLONASS vs. plain GPS? I just upgraded, then reset in hope this will help poor battery performance, so don't want to tax the battery further by trying the new Galileo. From full charge, about two hours into a night ride with temps in the low 30s it went into battery save mode. Was leading on a relatively unfamiliar route, so had map on for navigation, and screen went bright for each turn warning.

Set to auto-brightness and 15 second screen timeout.

So, based on 1 ride I took and nothing else.. I had my unit on the map screen all the time which does use more battery, but brightness to 0, with 15 second timeout, no ant+ sensors connected. My 820 is old and has been used almost daily for 2 years, the weather was also cold, so my battery may not be as good as it once was.

Over a 4 hour ride starting at 100% battery. The first 2 hours I used GPS+Galileo and my unit had drained to 50% of it's battery.
I switched it to GPS only at that point, and over the next 2 hours it drained to the point where it asked if I wanted to turn on battery saving mode (Which is this is at 30% left).

So, my rough estimation is that GPS+Galileo uses twice as much battery as standard GPS.
