Turn by Turn navigatin guide

Hi,
Hoping someone can help with this before i end up selling my 820 and going for a 1030.
I'm finding it impossible to get turn by turn navigation working. I've tried creating routes in garmin connect, strava routes and ride with gps in gpx,tcx and fit file formats with no success.
The route itself will load fine but i'm not getting road names on the map or any prompts to "turn left onto .... street in .... metres " for example.
Ideally i just want to be able to monitor speed/power/heart rate on one screen and then have the turn prompt pop up when needed if thats possible ?

    To my knowledge, this is not a typical problem with the 820. The way I do it after having copied the course file to the new files folder on the 820 and starting the 820 is to tap Navigation, Courses, Saved Courses, select the desired course, allow it to load, tap Ride, select either navigate to the beginning or not, allow it to load (takes several minutes), push the Start/Stop/Lap button, and start riding.

    There are several navigation options you can change under an Activity Profile that affect how and when the turn instructions are displayed. I don't think there are any that will make them go away completely.

    The "turn guidance" (what Garmin calls it) can be disabled on all the units.

    It appears you have it disabled on your unit.

    "Turn guidance" is the big white arrows.

    You'll have to look for the setting (on the 1000, the setting is in the 3 horizontal settings menu at the lower right of the "courses" list.

    The file format (tcx, gpx, file, etc) doesn't matter at all.

    I have the same problem with "turn guidance" - whenever I import a route via Garmin Connect (GPX-Files) and then transfer it to my Edge 820 (most current FW 10.0), the Edge does show the route will load and show up on the screen but the Edge does not give me any turn by turn navigation.

    I checked the options, seems that I have all navigation settings turned on but there just isn t any routing for imported routes. When I activate "back to the start" there ist turn by turn guidance but not with imported routes...

    Does anyone know what I can do?
