Empty cue sheet

I loaded a TCX course file (created at ridewithgps.com) onto my 820 (firmware v9.10) but when I loaded it, and after waiting for it to finish 'calculating', the cue sheet was empty - it showed the start of the ride and the end of the ride, nothing else. The course showed correctly on the map and the navigation prompts appeared but the cue sheet was empty. I loaded the same course onto my 520 and the cue sheet contents appeared correctly.

It's not a big deal as I don't tend to use the cue sheet but there seems to be a problem here. Anyone else had this?

  • After some more digging I found that this is actually by design and was added in build 9.10.

    That's unfortunate.

The course-points work as a backup for turns that the turn-guidance misses.

  • Here is the 820 course point page, firstly with turn guidance on and then with turn guidance off

    Turn guidance on

    Turn guidance off

If you have TBT OFF then all the course points get reported. If you have TBT ON then only the none turn course points get reported. E.g. Water, Food etc.

    Thanks for the swift investigation.

Like I said earlier, this isn't really a problem for me because I only really use the map for navigation. I've not had to refer back to the course points. But I understand what dpawlyk means about using them as a backup if turn guidance screws up.
  • One way around it would be to change the course point type to "generic" or some other non-turn type course point. That way you would still get the notification and text as well as it showing on the course point page, but it would not have the correct icon.
  • Enabling Turn Guidance also seems to turn off the turn indicators (small white arrows) that appear on the map all along the route (I export .fit from RWGPS with turn notification enabled). For me these have limited utility as you can pretty much see where the turns are from the purple route line.

So with Turn Guidance enabled the only thing the cue sheet is good for is distance to end. However, you can long-press the top of the map to get a list of turns you can scroll through.

That would be a pain to do. You also don't get the turn direction.
