SRAM eTap keeps disconnecting and reconnecting, about every 20 seconds

I suppose this can be due to the battery-saving mode of the eTap components. But with firmwares 9.0/9.1 there's an annoying on-screen message plus an alert beep, every time the Edge inform that a shifting sensor is discovered. In fw version prior to 9.0 the disconnecting/reconnecting was also present, but without messages and alert beeps.

The only way I can use the Edge is by turning off the shifting sensor... Since basically I upgraded from the 810 to the 820 because of the eTap connectivity, this is a little frustating.
I'm thinking of getting rid of the 820 and stay with the good, old 810
  • I have the same problem. SRAM eTAP on two different bikes constantly disconnect and reconnect, a Rotor Power meter just drops hard and cannot reconnect without a restart. Occasionally I lose a Garmin HRM, and it reconnects. Occasionally I also loose connectivity to my Garmin Radar taillight.

I have tried deleting and then reconnecting devices with a repeat of the problems. I've also disabled WiFi and Bluetooth without much improvement.

I anyone has any other suggestions, or if Garmin could issue a fix I would greatly appreciate it!
  • same happens to me on my edge 520 plus - wasn't happening on my older 520

I have the disconnect problem with my Edge 1030 too. Very annoying. Garmin - can you please fix this? :-(

I’m running Di2 but occasionally have the same issue. It usually starts at the beginning of the ride so I stop and stop the activity and trash the start of the ride. I then completely power down the 820. Until I get the red power off. I wait through the shut down process and then restart. This process has always stopped the 820 from dropping and reaquairing every 20 seconds. Good luck.

Same here. Very annoying. I've tried resetting everything, but without improvement. Needs to be solved with new update.

    [Update]
Yesterday I upgraded the Edge to fw Beta 9.34, and today I made a 3 hours ride, without a problem. Sram Etap sensor is found only once, and the current selected gear was always accurate.
This should be the bug fix:
    • Cleaned up some of the sensor found notifications that could occur in the middle of a ride.

Should I post this in the 1030 subforum to get it noticed then? At least 520 and 820 seem to have it fixed, which is a step in the right direction.

Still having problems with this on my 1030, and just for the heck of it, I tried with my 820 with latest FW and it does not work properly at all. Either I have something that messes it up, or it's just plain bad equipment from Garmins side. :-(

Seems like it's some kind of bug. Fairly easy to solve for most ppl thou.
