No TruUp for 820...disappointing Garmin

Was wondering why training effect and recovery minutes were not syncing from rides recorded on Edge 820 and my Fenix 5X. After call to Garmin, I learned the Edge 1030 is the only device supporting TE TruUp. This is my third Edge device, and not really in the mood to upgrade again, but was hoping I wouldn't have to continue recording on watch and Edge for every ride. Ugh!!!

Believe it's just a difference in software, and not requiring any new hardware, it's possible that they may enable it in the future, but only if a "replacement" device isn't in the works. Although, they did upgrade the "old" Fenix 5 series to include the "Galileo" support available in the 5+ series. Perhaps if enough people bugged them?
  • I agree, should be a software issue. No mention of TruUp in latest 820 Firmware beta. One can only hope...no idea how many users of the 820 also wear a garmin watch.

820 and Fenix 5x here. Updated my watch yesterday and it specifically notified me that TruUp was active and I was pumped because that's a feature I've been looking forward to for some time. I never understood why Garmin Connect could never help two Garmin devices talk to each other.. anyway I was bummed when I saw that of course the 820 wasn't included although not surprised... typical garmin let-down
