Garmin EDGE 820 Sensor Ant+ after update 9.1

Issues have been occurring after the latest updated. Ant+ devices continuously drop. I have read the issues with Stages power meter, which before the update had no concern. But not even the lighting (Bontrager) RT Ant+ is also dropping and reconnecting during the rides. I have performed a full factory reset and resintalled devices but no solution. What is going on Garmin?
  • I’m seeing exactly the same. I get regular messages across the top of the screen saying e.g. Di2 Connected. Also see my recent posting re Battery Life. Are these things related? E.g is the new firmware constantly scanning for devices and draining battery life in the process?

Same here. HRM, speed sensor, and power meter all drop and reconnect 2-3x every hour on average. Those alerts are really fun in the middle of a crit at 30mph.
  • ANT+ problems here as well after updating to 9.10. The Edge lost all connection to my ANT+ devices (HR-TRI, speed and cadence sensor on the bike). I tried to remove them and pair them again, but the edge doesnt find them anymore. All sensors work without any issues with me FR935 ..
  • I have the same thing with firmware v9.10: paired my new bike with di2 5 days ago without problems, and today the 820 continuously said it detected it, but I could not use it. I tried removing and adding again, but that did not help. The same for the speed/cadence senors. ????
  • I’m someone from Garmin will say “we are looking into it”. It nothing ever gets resolved. It’s not just stages power meter. It has impacted di2 and lighting. Will see if Garmin addresses or will ignore it.
  • Ok so today and I’m not sure it will work with everyone, but I un enabled WiFi and un enabled Bluetooth. I know it must suck since you will miss the functionality. However after unenabling both I had no drops on my Stages power meter and Di2. The problem is not stages it the freaking upgrade. Tuesday I will ride again.

I finally got them back after removing them and restarted the garmin. I was able to pair all sensors again. Did a 2 days trip on the weekend without a single drop out.Crossing fingers it says the same.

PS: I didnt turn out Wifi etc. Left this all as it was.
  • I rode the Maratona Dolomites yesterday with WiFi off, Bluetooth off, GPS only (no GLONASS) and Battery Save Mode turned on from the start. I just squeezed 8 hours from a 100% charge. For the entirety of the 10Km climb of Passo Giau, the 820 must have beeped 100 times telling me variously that the connection with the Speed/Cadence sensor was lost/reestablished and that the GPS signal was lost/remade. I almost lobbed the thing into the wilderness. It then stayed silent for the entirety of the next 10Km climb! At 2,000m of elevation with clear line of sight to the heavens, how I could be losing the GPS signal is an absolute mystery (it was not in tree covered parts of the climb). There is something seriously wrong with this firmware. That we are being made to suffer this in the name of stupid functionality is unforgivable (can I have a speed controlled rear light said no road cyclist ever!). Wahoo Element riders meanwhile had 100% reliability and were laughing at us poor Garmin owners for putting up with this!
  • Since I updated to 9.0 my GPS connection has been dropping repeatedly, including on regular routes where I've never had the problem before. I was hoping 9.1 would resolve the issue, but with no luck.
My cadence sensor keeps dropping out too, could well be related to the 9.1.
Off to the Alps on Thursday so will be very p1ssed off if the GPS plays up on those rides.

Mine has been dropping cadence and Di2 since the v9.0 and v9.1 updates. Also trouble with the auto upload to Garmin Connect. I finally turned off the audible notifications. At least it is no longer beeping at me every time it finds the sensor again. My 820 use to work flawlessly. It was like magic. I have unpaired both the 820 and iPhone and repaired so many times.

I couldn’t recommend a Garmin Edge product to anyone right now. Very disappointing that these versions of software were sent out.
