Edge 820 disconnects Assioma Favero after a small amount of time [Firmware 9.0]

Hi,

Recently when the new firmware came out I installed the 9.0 firmware. Everything was fine until then. Sometimes the unit does not connect directly with my heartrate sensor, turning it off and on in the settings will help to connect, but now my Assioma Favero Duo power meter is disconnecting after I think 15 minutes. Turning it off and on in the sensor settings menu will not help. I have to stop my pause/stop my activity, press the power button, wait for a couple of seconds, turn the unit on and then I can finally connect to my powermeter again.

Garmin please publish the edge820_880.gcd file so people can downgrade to get everything to work properly again till the new bugs are fixed.

Kind regards,

Lennart
  • Welcome friend to the club of the victims by firmware 9.0.

For the time being, the recommendation is to downgrade to fw 8.70, which is the one that can be downloaded. The 8.80 Garmin does not have it available to download, anyway not big changes between 8.70 and 8.80 were made.

    Regards,
    Robert.

I want 8.80 also because 8.70 is the version that screws up Connect IQ apps by adding red rings to the screen such as Power Gauge. Version 8.80 fixed this bug.

Yes, but Garmin support via tweeter say that they cannot give me the fw 8.80...so I only can get the fw 8.70 from the beta fw 8.71 published by Garmin, the last beta published...

    Regards.
  • I just noticed that Garmin dropped the official download link of firmware beta 8.71 ... Very bad of your part Garmin  ... that is not done! instead of giving us solution options, you fill the court with mud!!

Yes, it's almost like a conspiracy for those with older iPhones. I remember 8.70 messed up Connect IQ apps, so Garmin released 8.71 beta, then shortly thereafter 8.80. I spoke to tech support this evening to see if they could provide me 8.80, however they made me no promises.

Yes, it was incredible that they removed the link, especially when I was asking the support to upload the fw 8.80 in the same way they had published Beta 8.71 ... it seems that it would have been intentional ...

Ok, let us know if you get it or they give you some download link. So far we have only been able to get 8.70.

    Regards.
  • I figured out that it occurs when I stand still for about 5 minutes and there is no powerdata coming through, after that I can connect to the powermeter sometimes but there is no powerdata coming through and the powermeter is disconnecting quite fast after that.

Edit: I'm back at 8.71 beta. When I got no data for a little amount of time, I think the powermeter is disconnecting, but when I rotate the pedals, it's back again. So it seems there is something wrong with re-connecting.
  • Problem unfortunately still exists in 9.1
