Edge 820 Automatically updated to Software V9.00..now it wont auto upload

My Edge 820 auto updated to software v9 on Saturday 12th...I did a decent ride today and it won't auto upload.

I've deleted and reinstalled Garmin Connect on iphone. Bluetooth is on on iphone ans shows as connected to 'Edge 820'.

Opening garmin connect on iphone says Edge 820 Attention required!! then iphone tells me it's not fully connected to Edge 820.

Iphone asks me to pair the Edge 820 then asks for an accessory but there is nothing to select!

Also in Edge 820 settings, the bluetooth section has disappeared!

Anyone have any ideas?

Everytime Garmin updates something gets cocked up..bloody annoyed now.
  • Try going into the device and under the phone pairings forget your phone then go to bluetooth settings and forget both pairings from the phone as well, it never hurts to power cycle the phone. Start the pairing process again it should find the accessories this time.

    I just did this update and the edge told me to delete the connection from the phone in Connect IQ to the edge and re-establish it. Seemed to reconnect ok. Hope it fixes the screen freezing issues I have been having.
  • I have already 9.0, and it stated that it needed to be re-paired with the phone, after install. I unpaired from the phone, and re-paired, through Garmin Connect Mobile app. Everything is OK.

    I just followed the steps provided in the upgrade. Simple and without any problem.

    Were are you from? there is a new personal data protection regulation about to be activated, and you have to consent uploading your information to internet.

    I have made several updates to my 820, throughout it´s lifecycle since 2016 to this day without any problems.

    I managed to find the settings under 'phone' and unpaired and reconnected the two devices. iphone shows the devices as connected but the edge 820 shows the phone as disconnected. Still wont auto upload.

    I'm in the UK and have consented to the new data protection stuff.

    i've now found that 820 & iphone only seem to confirm connection when Garmin Connect App is opened on my phone, then rides upload

    Same problem here. No longer auto uploads and won't upload via USB connection either. Any suggestions?

    I’ve rolled back the firmware to v8.70. Works fine now. I logged into garmin express and stopped auto update of firmware. Edge 820 has downloaded firmware v9.0 but will not install until I let it, which obviously is not going to happen.
  • I got it working with 9.0 and with my Android phone. I forgot the connection on the 820 and on my phone. I rebooted my phone. Set the Garmin Connect app on the phone to connect to the 820. Set the 820 to connect. Went to the bluetooth settings screen on the phone and accepted the pairing request. Waited a bit, and the 820 reported it was connected. The 820 now receives notifications and auto-uploads.

    I've tried doing what you suggested on my iPhone 7 before I rolled back to FW v8.7. I had no luck at all.

    So i'll stick with FW v8.7 for now. Edge has downloaded the latest FW v9.0 but will not install it until I say so, thankfully.

    Spent hours yesterday messing with this update to include on the phone twice with Support. Tried everything...nothing worked, unable to connect phone/Edge. Sent app diagnostics log, sync log (which was empty) and the entire Garmin file (which took forever to copy/zip) to support for troubleshooting. Looking forward to them telling me I need a new iPhone.
