Something has changed in bluetooth connection with firmware 9.00

Before firmware 9.00 on the iOS bluetooth connection I was able to see 2 different entries for the Edge 820: "BLE_Edge 820" and "Edge 820". Both was connected to iOS when I turn on the device.
Now I have always 2 bluetooth entries, with a different name: "BT_Edge 820" and "Edge 820". But iOS connect only the "Edge 820" one when I turn on my Edge 820 device.
Something goes wrong?

  • From Shawn's post

"Updated phone connection architecture to add support for new features. This will require a one-time removal of the Edge from your phone and for it to be re-paired in Garmin Connect Mobile version 4.5 or newer."

It's now the same as the Edge 1030.
  • Yes I did it. I removed the device from Garmin Connect and iOS bluetooth entries. I paired it again and this is the result (look at the pictures attached).
When I pair the device the first bluetooth entry discovered is always "BT_Edge 820" and following the "Edge 820". And in Garmin Connect everything is good.
Then every time I turn on my Edge 820 the bluetooth "Edge 820" is connected and the other one not. Now in Garmin Connect everything seems to work, device is connected but if you look at the picture I have a red alert.
Is it a problem or everything is fine?

Mine too. I deleted the whole app, then reinstalled. That seems to have fixed it.

I have no no idea how (if?) Garmin test their software. I would have thought by version 9 they should have stuff working. Maybe their regular software developer was on holiday, the manager was under pressure to release a new version, so they got the accountant, cleaner and marketing director to poke the computer with a stick and “hey presto” version 9 emerged!
  • same problem here
today not make the upload to gc
gonna try to delete the app and install
  • I removed the Edge in my phone, now the connention can*t be completed. The connection progress bar in GC stops at 33% and stays like that. I’ll try a new installation of the GC app ( android ). I’ll keep in touch with the results. I’ll do a test on ios too.
  • Reinstalling GC on my phone, had resolved the problems. Connection and sync works again. Now some tests on the road.
  • reinstalling gc on phone and all ok today
  • Similar for me but i have also lost the setting/bluetooth menu on the 820 so cannot get into pairing mode. What do I do now?
