I have the following issue with both my Garmin 520 and 820 so I'll post this in both forums. The 820 is version 6.30 and the 520 is 11.10 - both are UK bought.
I've been using Strava Live Segments since the launch of the 520 and up until last Autumn it worked OK. I didn't really use it over the winter but this spring neither seem to be working properly. I'm aware of the limitation of not having an active route (unless that has been fixed now?) and my Strava account is a Premium one. The problem is the same for both devices and works like this...
1) When approaching a (starred and active) segment the devices may or may not give a distance countdown to the start of the segment (the 520 seems the most reliable of the two). Previously both were very reliable.
2) When entering the segment both devices will revert immediately to their previous displays, showing nothing relevant to the active live segment. Previously the live segment data remained on screen until the segment was complete. If the device detected the approaching segment in 1) above, then it can be manually paged to to see the live segment data - if the segment is a long one this is an option but for a short or high power one it is highly impractical. *Sometimes* the segment data does remain on screen but this behaviour is inconsistent.
3) At the end of the segment, and if the segment was detected in 1) above then a summary page will briefly show.
I'm surprised not to find other people reporting this given that it's the same problem on two independent devices that I own. The only thing they have in common is that they're both linked to the same Garmin Connect account. All the relevant segments are present and correct (and active) on both devices.
Any ideas?
