Edge 820 Corrupt Fit file

Corrupt Fit file

My son did his first road race ever yesterday and was using an Edge 820. I believe that his 820 crashed right after the race and as a result his .fit file seems to be corrupt. Is there anyone that can repair it for me?

I probably wouldn't care so much about this if this wasn't his first race ever.

On a side note, his 820 seems to be crashing a lot so I suppose I'll be calling Garmin support.

Unzip, then import into Garmin Connect using the import data page

Repaired using Fit…

Can we remove this as a sticky?

lets NOT remove this as a sticky - it allows those of us who assist with fixing corrupt .fit files an easy place to find the requests, and it saves cluttering up the forums…

For what it's worth, I've only had it happen once in a couple of years and several hundred activities.

Hi,

I see lots of people getting help with corrupt files.
I had a go at trying to fix the attached, but with little luck.
Is anyone out there willing to have a look?

I tied fixing it myself but without any luck. Is anyone able to help?

hi JohnKnutsen,

There is no data between 4min30sec and 1hr1min28sec in your .fit file. Without the data being there to manipulate, there isn't a lot that I can do.

This file contains what data it there.

Good to get it confirmed that its not the file that is the issue.
But guess it leaves me questioning the unit.

JohnKnutsen, how many completed and uploaded activities are currently on your device? If it's anymore than a months worth then it could be time to think about archiving the older ones off to a folder on your computer.

Hi,

I have my second corrupt file in as many weeks. I've never had a corrupt file before this. I think it was Mike who fixed it for me last time. Any chance this one can fixed? And would you know why it is getting corrupt so i can try to stop it happening?
