Bugs i found (on 5.20)

List of bugs found to be present on the 5.20 firwmare...

- Because the screen still is slow as ***, sometimes, when you press an icon (for instance, the "go back" arrow) or a menu option, it will only highlight the icon/menu option, but not proceed into that option. So you need to press the same option twice.

- The POI sometimes is broken and sometimes it isn't. If you press on the ALL POI option, to show everything nearby, it often gives a no results response. But, if you try it 2 or 3 times again, it will work as it should and show all POI results nearby.

- I usually reset the device a LOT of times (i keep pressing the power button until it resets). More often than not, when i plug it into the garmin express app via usb, it will say i have a software update, usually the time zone version 19.00 to update. I must have updated the 820 with that SAME time zone like 20 times already.

- When you input your ftp on the device, it will calculate the percentages using the 9 zone coggan. If you change to other method (7 zones), it will do so, but if you shut down the device (or reset it) and turn it back on, it will be back to the 9 zone coggan, breaking the percentages and making them unusable.

- If you change a setting, for instance, go to the backlight and turn it to 70% or other percentage, if you shut down the device or sync it with garmin express, it will be "restored" to 100%. This happens automatically and i can't stop it from happening, unless i keep changing it back again to a lower percentage.

- The screen, like i said, is still slow as ***, but more so when you are with the gps on. Trying to zoom in/out or pan the map during a ride, is a test to your sanity.

- This is a bit of graphical nitpicking, but... as you know, out of the box, the TRAIN mode corresponds to the blue colour, the INDOOR to green, and RACE to red. Also, when you select a mode, for instance TRAIN (with blue colour) there is a thin (blue) coloured line on the menus that show the colour of the mode you selected. The problem is that a lot of times, you have chosen the TRAIN (blue) mode, and the colour of the line in the menus/submenus is red or green. What i mean is that the rest of the menus didn't update the colour to the mode you selected.

- The elevation issue is still there. It is a bit more precise, but more often than not, it is showing my house with 119meters of elevation, when i know for a fact and other gps/google maps/online resources, that it is 137meters.

- Sometimes, after a test ride (either indoors or outdoors), at the moment to save or discard a ride. If you choose discard (i do that slowly without touching the save option), it will say it was discarded. BUT, will appear on the history/ride totals as a saved activity. Again, this SHOULDN'T HAPPEN.

- The option for the auto-calculating Lactate Threshold NEVER worked (i use the garmin premium HRM). I had to do the test separately and input the value myself. It never auto-calculated anything.

- The device is still slow, slow, slow. I added this just to remind garmin that they should make it faster (swiping, entering menus, etc...). It is a bit better than the previous firmware but, even still, like it is a the moment it resembles a 1990s Nokia, with the exception being that the Nokia worked flawlessly...

- When you are in the navigation menu and you want a round-course trip for 40k, it will take FOREVER to get the 3 routes the device always gives you. If you are in the middle of the road in a cold day, you can rest assured you will freeze your ass off while waiting. It takes like 5 minutes or more...

- The gradient display (as opposed to elevation) is wildly inaccurate and laggy.

- Some users complain that synchronisation through Garmin Express or the Garmin Connect app, changes the settings they have in their 820 unit. For instance it will change the language back to the one that is "stored" on the Garmin Connect site, instead of keeping the language setting that was chosen for the 820 initially.

- While using the navigation feature, if you stray from your route, the unit will freeze and keep recalculating, urging you to go back to the beginning of the course (even if you are a very long way from the beginning). Other users say that this happens, even if you do not go off route, but just stop for a bit. So... navigation still has issues and still far from functional.

- When you select an activity profile, for instance TRAIN, and go to mapping settings and enable/disable maps, the settings that you choose on that activity profile (TRAIN) will be for ALL the other activity profiles you have on your edge 820. Meaning, if you disable all the maps on the TRAIN activity profile, both the RACE and INDOOR will have them deactivated too.

- The workouts calendar on garmin connect only sync with the edge 820 if you are subscribing to a workout regime. If you decide you want to stop doing the workouts, you need to delete the workouts/calendar manually on your gps (or on the folder on your pc/mac). Basically, going to Garmin Connect and unsubscribing from your workouts calendar, doesnt delete the workout from the gps... and it should, because you are syncing the device with the online platform... Just one more bug.

NOTE: List will be updated as more users share their experiences.

PLEASE SOMEBODY SHARE THIS LIST WITH THE GARMIN DEVELOPERS.
