Garmin Edge 820 Running Slow/Lagging Screen

I'm wondering if anyone else has been experiencing this problem with their 820 and possibly found a solution:

--When a Strava segment pops up and I try to stop it, it will sometimes take 10-15 seconds for the confirmation to display and another 10-15 seconds for it to go away after I hit "yes"
--The Garmin installed maps are SUPER SLOW...takes forever for them to refresh when I scroll and zoom
--When calculating a route, it might take 2-3 minutes for the screen to catch up even after it's done calculating. The Garmin is still acquiring data and running in the background, the screen is just not refreshing

Thanks for the help!

Don't know about the Strava segments, but the other two things you mentioned - yes, that's how it is :/

The Strava segments might take 1 sec to go away when I dismiss them. Maybe two seconds but not any more than that. Perhaps it depends on the number of segments that are nearby or that you have starred???

don't know much about Strava segments (don't use them)

but regarding the maps I got my maps from here :
    http://extract.bbbike.org/
with maps set to lowest detail and after deactivating all other maps installed in the Edge unit they are quite usable when it comes to zooming in/out and pan moderately.

regarding route calculation, I only downloaded a small portion of the area directly around me and it *seems* to have sped up things a bit at least, when I go off route, it calculates a new route instantly, not after several dozen of seconds as it used to before... can't say too much about route calculation from 820 itself because of following hack:

biggest improvement for routing has to do with my using a connectIQ app and my iphone:
    - installed RouteCourse connectIQ app
    - opened account on DWmap
    - put a shortcut to DWmap's RoutePlanner directly on the desktop of my smartphone.

Now when I want to go somewhere, I pull out my phone, launch RoutePlanner, select start point, end point, save the route, and then use RouteCourse to download the new calculated route to the 820.

it's still a little slower than using google maps on my phone (what I did until recently because 820 is such a pain for anything else but following a preset route) but a lot more battery friendly... and way faster and easier than using the 820 to do a route calculation!

also, if your unit is painfully slow all the time, maybe a reset would help... you will have to setup everything from scratch again (including screen setup, paring to devices etc.), but I had to do that once and my 820 seemed much faster after the reset.
