'Off Course' When Navigating

Hi everyone,

Wondering if any of you have experienced the the issue I'm having during using Navigation. If I take a wrong turn or purposefully turn 'Off Course' during navigation for too long the Garmin is unable to pick up the course when I get back on it. Even stopping the course and reloading doesn't not help, turn by turn navigation is hosed for the rest of the ride.

Also, is it possible to load a saved course that I am 10 miles into and have the Garmin recognize where I am and just go from there? It doesn't work for me.

Thanks

As far as your second question, yes. I did this last weekend after my 820 just dropped the course I was on. I was following the course then the next thing you know there was no more course. I reloaded it and took off from there.

I've never had your first issue happen.

Thanks for your reply. Just curious, did you have turn by turn guidance enabled?

Yes. Switch off turn by turn when navigating a course (under Navigation / courses / options) and everything will become quite smoother. I present a more detailed possible explanation for these errors in the thread " BUG: Garmin Edge 820 Total Crash/Brick/Shut off while Navigating a Course".

    Cheers,

How do navigate a course if you have turn by turn disabled ?

also does the 820 not warn you before the turns ? with a beep ? only u have to look at the screen ?

Also i actually did the exact same thing as the first poster ie went of course. when i re found the course it picked it up straight away so no problems for me.

Yes, it does happened to me that although I am on the right track (and did not select "ride to the beginning of the course").

The Edge 830 show that I am "off course", and even more annoying is asking constantly to make a U-Turn. I think has to do with the data saved in the course.

More funny is that I did this course and the virtual Partner (for me an annoying feature) was moving in the opposite direction on the course. So looks like I cannot do my course in the direction I want with the Garmin Edge!
