Battery drained while powered off.

Charged it. Rode about 1.7 hr. Powered it off, not standby. Three days later I turned it on to ride, it indicated zero and died after a few minutes. Someone else reported this but I couldn't find the thread.
  • From what I understand Wi-Fi (if activated) is operational even if the device is turned off. Could be a reason if you have it enabled.

I have Wi-Fi enabled on my device but I haven't looked at battery drain yet. I will look in a few hours and see if there is a significant battery drain.

Here i have the same issue about the battery drain.
Yesterday the battery was about 90%, then i shut it off.
Today i was reading this topic so i take a look.
My 820 want even go on. Battery was complete empty.

    Wifi was enabled.

Could be that i put in standby (not poweroff). I will test again.
I did not know how to poweroff and assume it was just a press on the power button.
Now i read in the manual it needs a long press of the power button.

    Manual??
Don't you see on the screen 3 options, Sleep, (something, can't remember now) and power off?
You have to press/touch screen on power off option in order to shut it down. And it beeps when powered off - I guess tones have to be switched on.
  • This morning I checked my battery status but there was no drain at all. Wi-Fi is enabled.
  • FYI, if you put the device to sleep instead of powering it off, Wi-Fi continues to run.
  • Mine did this as well, same deal, it was around 70% two days later went for a ride and it was dead. I've not had it happen again but I'm now more careful about checking it the night before

I'm having the same issue. After the first time I figured that I'd only put the unit in standby so I made certain it was off the next time. It doesn't happen every time but it happens often enough that it's a real pain. I notice that sometimes when I go to power it off I'll still see some sort of logo on the screen -- then I know it's only in standby mode. I have to redo the shutoff procedures until the screen is completely blank.

I'm here on the forum because my unit is totally frozen and won't turn on. I'm looking for a fix. So far I'm not all that impressed when comparing the stability of this unit with my 705 which has served me well for nearly 8 years.

  • I see the same thing. Plus sometimes my unit just turns off while recording a ride (even with plenty of battery power).

But I totally experience the power drain while off about 25% of the time. Wifi on.
