My Edge 820 was became unresponsive. Initially, I thought I had forgotten to power it off and the battery had completely drained. I pressed and held the power button for probably a good 10 seconds but nothing happened. After I got home, I plugged it into the USB port of my Mac, pressed and held the power button for 10 seconds. Finally the device powered on. It was when I was notified of two Edge 820 updates. One was for WiFi and the second was US map update. After installing the updates and unplugging it from my Mac, I was prompted if I wanted to continue with the WiFi update. I selected yes and now it's stuck in this "Updating Wi-Fi Software" screen. It's been that way for the past 15 minutes.
Mine is in the same boat. If I hold down the power button it will turn off, but once I power it back on it asks if I want to do the wifi update and just stays at 0 indefinitely.
Well I'm now on v3.0 of the firmware. Yesterday's 2.x seemed to make the Wifi update go away [hurrah] but required me to re-enter setting and pair devices [doh!] but out on a ride I noticed it had also messed up Garmin Charts display! http://bit.ly/2baHCPV
So today,it was with some trepidation that I accepted v3.0 of the firmware. :confused:the Wifi update is back! BUT when I accept the update via the 820 the notification disappears .. come on Garmin what's going on?

Same thing happened to me after the 3.0 update. The Wi-Fi update prompt showed up and when i accepted the update, it appeared as though nothing had happened. There was no update progress screen, like when it was stuck previously. I have a case opened with Garmin and i've just asked them how we could determine if the Wi-Fi update was actually installed. Still waiting for a response.
