Possible to Reset Odometer?

As the title says, is it possible to assign a value to the Odometer?

I want to set the 820 odometer to the current value I have on my 800 so I can keep an ongoing record of total miles traveled.

TIA for any help.

Better still would it be possible to reset the mileage on each Activity Profile, I've assigned bikes to profiles (CX Bike, Road Bike etc) and although the mileage is recorded now, it would be better if I had the option to add the miles already ridden previously.
  • Not on the unit. There are third party total that will let you edit the totals file. One is the http://fitfilerepairtool.info/

    Hi,
Is there no further development on this thread? I like to correct the ODO to the total distance I ride this year (With Edge 800)
FitFileRepairTool do not work with Apple, I try to edit with Kiesewetter but it seams that the info that I found here and there is not complete (probably I don't understand well) and is not working on the 820.
Is there somebody who has fix this? Can somebody explain me this properly ?

    :)

I run a little CatEye wireless next to my 820 - it has a proper odometer to give me the total milage of the bike - as well as two separate trip distance fields - ridiculous that such a simple 1990's piece of kit can do the job that my Garmin can't and I can't find anything online that will either (at least, not as easily).

    Manually Setting the odometer

I would love to set the odometer manually. This is my first Garmin and being 3/4 of the way through the season I would like to be able to add the miles I already have into the device. I know a lot will argue that you don't really need this information on the road, but it seems like such a complex device should allow you to do this.

I also have a Cateye mounted on each of my (5) bikes to record individual mileage, but when I looked at the .fit files to change the odo figures it all got too complicated as each profile records time ridden as well.

I also have a Sigma BC 16.12 and he do a good job but it is frustrated that a new "high tech" machine do not work as well then good old 800, today I went out with those and I think I leave him on my bike until those (stupid) detail is not resolve.
So please, please somebody a step by step tuto

It's probably easy enough for a single bike, but I don't think it will ever be possible for multiple bikes because Garmin (in their wisdom) have decided that we don't need Bike Profiles.
