New Files and additional Maps Folder

The Garmin\NewFiles folder is the import location used for bring most items in to the Edge such course from tcx, gpx, FIT files, workouts and the location for restoring settings and activity profile from backups.

Does the edge then know what to do with the files?

Yes it does.

I think that maps are an exception. There can be only one map at a time on the 520, with the new map replacing the old one with exactly the same file name.

Yes, that's how I changed my basemap. That's why I'm curious what the folder is for.
