Training Effect Missing

I've moved from the FR920XT and F3 to the Edge520, for one main reason, to get more fields visible at the same time.

However I keep getting frustrated about missing things and errors in, what I thought was a "Top of the Line" product.

This time, I'm missing the Training Effect Score that I used on the FR920XT and F3 - it appears that this is not used on the Edge Line of product, do any of you know if TE it's coming to the Edge 520?

The 520 is a cycling computer and has a number of metrics related to training with power, TSS, NP etc. The 920 is also used for running and swimming so it might have some different fields to estimate a training effect based on HR only.

If it's not available now I wouldn't expect them to add it as the power based metrics are more accurate .
  • It's funny... I was about to add this same thread.

I don't know if Training Effect is tremendously useful for me, but it is nice to have a metric across various sports. In reviewing my GC data I saw gaps in TE numbers... assumed it was just Swim sessions, but then noted it was rides with my 520 (where the fenix 3 included TE for rides).

I agree that Power metrics (TSS) are potentially a better measure of a workout's effect, but it still feels odd how inconsistent Garmin applies various items to their devices.

Given the Recovery Advisor and such features being pulled over, why this is missing I don't know!

Same Ride with my F3 and EDGE 520 with same HRM belt : both have identical R-R values recorded and both smart recording (i Checked with Fit File Tool Repair) but only F3 gives Training Effect.
I also checked with Firstbeat Athlete : Training effect is identical 2.7 for both .Fit files.

I don't have any powermeter on my bike then I was not expecting to get the VO2max value on Edge 520, but Training Effect yes.

Strange thing is that Recovery Time is there but totally different : F3 gives 24h; Edge 520 gives 43h as recovery time! Normally recovery time is not computed from several previous sessions or previous training load?
