Is pairing Polar HR7 with Garmin Edge 520 possible?

My old Garmin HR strap bit the dust, and I remembered that I also have a Polar HR7 bluetooth strap. When I try to connect it the 520, it never finds the HR7. My phone can connect to the HR7 using the Polar Beat app. That tells me that either the 520 can't see the HR7 by design or due to something going wrong. Which one is it?

The 520 doesn't support Bluetooth sensors, only ANT+.

Thank you. So the question for me now is, do I get a new HR strap that the 520 supports, or do I get a newer bike computer since the 520 is a bit long in the tooth? Any recommendations?

I would upgrade from the 520 mainly because its battery won’t last forever. Mine is on its 3^rd one and I keep it as a backup. I’ve been happy with a 530 for my usage, but I’d suggest taking a look at product reviews on dcrainmaker.com to see what best suits your needs.
