Edge Test

I did the test today. I thought it was just a twenty minute test. Which basically it is! However I arrived at the test site warmed up, pressed play and performed my twenty minute test to no power data or heart rate. I thought it was very odd! I did twenty minutes but the timer did not stop. However I did because I’d given all I had. The unit waffled on at me and I ignored it and cycled home.

I realised of course I had not performed the test as intended. This was due to a lack of clear instructions. On the website it says follow on screen data which in itself is not detailed enough to be helpful. After pressing start at the beginning of the test there were also no clear instructions, it simply said ‘step 1’. And step one is what I ask?!

Giving clear instructions of exactly what the test involves when first enquiring is not only nice thing to do it is also the most helpful thing that can be done. I had pre conceptions, a proper full explanation of what is involved in the test would put those preconceptions to rest.

It would be nice to have options regarding the warm up before the test. I rode 35 minutes to the test site which was all the level two required for a warm up. I’m sure other people have different circumstances to me.

So now I will do the test again but I’m none the wiser as to how I can achieve this outside so I will do it indoors this time. Maybe I will get a better result? We will see! If not I’ll just keep trying until I get it right as the instructions seem as clear as mud! Well done Garmin!!
