Targeted distance without pre-planning a route

Hey,

I was wondering if there is a way to do this:

A way to set a distance or time to either "100km" or "5 hours", without having a pre-planned route/course, but the GPS tells me when I hit the maximum distance away from the starting point so the shortest way back will hit the target of "100km" or "5 hours"

I know I could just ride for 50km or 2.5 hours, and the same way back but that's no fun .

The idea was to set a goal but still have the freedom to explore for that duration, and the GPS notifies when its time to head back

Hopefully I explained this well enough.
