Garmin Edge 520 screen replacement

Hi everybody,

I recently purchased a Garmin Edge 520 with a cracked screen. My idea was to replace it witth the screen of my old Edge 520, which hasn't worked properly since a rainy ride last year. The screen seemed to be fine, however.

When I changed the screen, at first it turned on normally. Luckily I didn't glue anything in yet, because after turning on and off once, the screen was blank, just the backlight working. I thought  maybe the ribbon had slipped out, so I put it in again and made sure nothing moved, but encountered the same problem.

So I thought maybe the screen has seen some water after all, and decided to buy a replacement from overseas. Unfortunately, that doesn't work either, just the backlights coming on.

Does anybody have an idea for a fix? Are there screen incompatibility issues within the edge 520 model?

    I got the same issue right now .... did you manage to solve your problem?

    Hi, no, unfortunately I have no good news. My idea now is to remove the shattered glass from the working screen using heat and a guitar e string, and to buy a replacement glass from overseas, I think it goes for around 15 $ . Then Ill glue the old screen on the new glass using UV glue. However, I have no idea if it will work and don't have the time to do it anytime soon. If you try it out, succesfully or not, let me know :)

    Now I have the same problem. My 520 starts, everything works, I can synchronize with my iPhone, computer etc. and the 520 has only a backlight. I can even light up the power of brightness but can not see anything on my screen. My question is if I buy a replacement set from Aliexpress - will it work? I mean, which part is the problem: the lcd set or the other "computer". Or the socket? O the cable?
