Hi,
I’m looking for a Garmin watch that can be easily sort of paired with the Edge 520.
- Let me explain. I do quite a few sports but my main one is cycling for which tracking I use the Edge 520 paired with an HR Strap and speed and cadence sensors. For other activities such as running, walking, swimming I am currently using an Apple Watch. Now, the problem with the latter is that I can easily track all those other activities but I’m not wearing it during my cycling activities which normally take from 2 up to 6 hours. Clearly the AW is not a great companion when it comes for cycling as it cannot be paired with any sensors and battery life is very poor. I therefore end up with having huge gap of HR datas on the apple health app. Another annoying thing is that the AW will never take into account any possible resting/recovery day whereas my Edge will suggest me some time off to recover after a strenuous effort which I think is very important- the AW on the contrary is probably trying to kill me. Now, I know there can be some way around it, but that’s not the point. So, I’m thinking to switch to a Garmin watch that can be paired with bike sensors for when I’m going for say a leisurely ride and cannot be bothered to wear the HR strap but that can also track the other sports (mainly running really) so that I can have continuous and consistent HR data in one app only- Garmin Connect. Is there any Garmin watch out there that can be paired to the Edge 520 in these terms? Meaning that they sort of talk to each other and if the Edge says have a rest day, the watch would acknowledge it? Can the 2 devices be used together to get fitness and health data in one account? Obviously for cycling I would always use the Edge paired with HR strap and sensors as I know that an HR strap is way reliable when it comes of tracking datas whilst cycling.
My choice at the moment would be between the Forerunner 45s and Vivoactive 4s. The smart features are not that essential-I still have the AW for those- but those 2 seems to fit better my very small wrists.
Any thoughts?
Thanks :)
