I think the USB connector on my Edge 520 is bad but I need help figuring it out

Bear with me... and thanks in advance for reading my word diarrhea.

Edge 520.  A few weeks ago I realized that I couldn't connect it to my USB ports to sync anymore.  Everything else still works fine.  I tried multiple cords.

I figured maybe it was the USB cord, and I know Garmin is very finicky, so I bought a real Garmin cord directly from Garmin.

No dice.

With the new cord, I can't get my computer to turn or/charge or recognize my Edge 520, no matter what USB port I use on my computer or on another computer.  I know these have working ports.

If I use some old micro USB cords sitting around, power only cords will still power the edge 520 from the computer USB port, but no data transfer.

I can use the new Garmin cord to charge other micro usb devices without a problem.  I tried this with multiple devices, chargers, and USB ports.  I unfortunately don't have a data micro USB device to attach to the computer view the new Garmin cable to test data capacity, but I don't think this is an issue.

One weirdness -- when I plug the Edge 520 into a wall charger, with the new cable I need to push on the USB-A end to get it to charge.  If I move my hand away or jiggle the USB-A end of the cable, even though the cable is in solidly on both ends, the power cuts out to the garmin.  I have no idea why this is happening.  This happens with multiple chargers.

My best guess is that the problem lies with the micro USB input on the garmin itself.

I can still sync with bluetooth, and I still charge using other cords, so it's still functional.

I did drop the unit several times...  You know, sweaty hands.

Anyone have any ideas?
