No gps

My Edge 520 will not acquire any satellite signals. I can’t decide whether this was after a software update or using on an ant+ trainer. I have tried every conceivable fix I could find on the internet and nothing seems to work. I’ve tried getting through to Garmin support but no luck as of yet. Any ideas for a fix will be greatly received before I take a large hammer and smash it to pieces.

Make sure that ride type is not set to indoors. With indoor mode the GPS is disabled.

its definitely not set to indoors. Also I have noticed the time is all wrong so have deleted then reloaded the gmaptz file. still has wrong time and will not acquire any satellites.

Sounds like it is time to contact Garmin Support. It could be that the GPS chip has failed.

On further investigation of the unit I found a rattle. on removing the screen found a rectangle block floating around which I assume is the gps aerial.

Quick update. I cleaned the 3 tiny solder connections with circuit cleaner. I then fixed the rectangular piece which i assume is the aerial down with some silicone sealer. then with the aid of a magnifying glass and a fine brush painted silver pcb repair paint between the solder points and the unit. Switched it back on and bingo full satellite reception.If you've ever done any work on i phones its a pretty simple repair. just fixing the screen down with double sided tape and thats job done.

I just want to say you here that this Sounds like the time has come to contact Garmin Support. It may be the case that the GPS chip has fizzled.

See above. I repaired the unit myself. Now if it would only sync all my strava segments i would be a happy man.

It may not sync all your segments based on restrictions Strava have put in place. Any segment with an average grade of -0.2% or less is considered to be downhill and they will no longer sync those.

Thank you. I have now researched this and it seems a misguided decision on stravas part. I for one will not be renewing my memership.
