Forerunner-Edge Cross Compatibility

Can I connect my Forerunner 45 to the Edge 520 Plus in order to use the heart rate feature?

If not, would I be better continuing to simply use my F45 for recording rides and smartphone for routes?

Any info appreciated

Yes, you can broadcast your HR from the FR45 and pair it as a heart rate monitor on your Edge 520 Plus. The instructions are here:
