Buttons problem

Garmin Edge 520 is maybe 5 years old and one button the plastic part that you actually press the button dropped. How I could fix it at least to be able to push the button. Seems like all the buttons will fall off eventually . I had the same problem with garmin 500.

I attached a photo from another post it's not mine. The button that is missing looks like the lower button on the photo.

  • Being that your 520 is out of warranty, Garmin will send you a refurbished unit at a fairly low cost, $50-$60.  They call it an out of warranty repair.

  • You can source a full back cover from the far east ebay equivalent (sorry, not sure if allowed to post their name, link to item).

There are videos on youtube showing how to split the 520 down.

  • Garmin asked me to pay 132€ to exchange the old with a new one !!! For that amount you can even buy edge 130 or another brand. I would pay 50-60 but not 130+

  • Yeah, that's crazy.  I'm in the US and it's much less expensive for the exchange.  On Amazon, the 520+ goes for $200.  How did that happen to your button, were you in an accident?

  • I have  it since 2015. I think they destroyed from the hot sun. I had the same problem with edge 500 which doesn't have any buttons. The plastic buttons somehow they "melted/evaporated"  I might fix it using some foam material that I will fit in the hole of the missing button.

Seems to be a garmin device problem. Lots of videos on youtube for their devices to fix. I also have the same problem with a 520. They quoted me USD 90.00
