520 Plus fw 5.30 - dropout all sensors

Hi,

I upgraded firmware to 5.30 and I have lot of problem with dropout after pause. When Iclimbed to mountain, I had pause for 30min. When I am back on bike - Vector 3 (dual) no found, cadence not found, heart rate not found. Only speed sensor was founded.

I have new batteries for 1 week in all sensors, 2 days without problem, but after installing firmware 5.30, I have this problem.

Anyone with similiar problems?

Thanks

i think I have mine back to normal again.  I ended up doing a full factory reset  (From the Settings / System Menu on the 520+) and then re-pairing all of my sensors. (sort of like taking the unit back to it's factory default).  So far, my HR, Power and Speed / Cadence seems to be working.  Definitely had a high PITA factor, but was a lot easier then spending a bunch of time rolling back software versions  (that was my plan B)  that had a high risk of not working.  YMMV...

  • super annoying to yet again have Garmin release an update that breaks all connections and needs a shitload of manual tweaking to get things working again. In the end even with copying the files from backup it doesn't work at all. some setings are still there, but most are gone. so you end up redoing the whole device.

update: Then of course it won't connect with the phone, so you can spend another  hour on that. remove app from phone. restart phone, restart edge 520 plus. All doesnt work. App keeps crashing during pairing. All just ***!!

No wonder Wahoo is getting so populair

  • How do you downgrade the software

  • @fuzzy50

    Take a look at;

    https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/cycling/f/edge-520-520-plus/208199/firmware-downgrade/979519#979519

It seems to me that this is either succesful or not, with all possibilites in between. My 520+ is still not the same as before the original update to 5.30, so have downgraded to at least the previous 4 versions over the last week, non eof which have been 100% succesful. I've even formated the 520+  in Windows 10 but that didn't seem to work either

Have Garmin acknowledged they even have an issue here yet alone say when they plan to fix it?

  • Yup, I kind of have the same issue.

When I start my ride it shows the HR, watt and cadence data but like after 10 sec it looses all of them. During the ride after about an hour the connection came back for 10 secs again so I could have a glance at my HR. I'm sure it is not due to low battery because I have to happen to changed the batteries in my stages gen3 power meter and garmin hr belt like a week ago. If I restarted the device the data showed up on my screen for a short time then disappeared. When I tried to connect manually the HR belt or the power meter the loading screen was just spinning but wasn't connecting.

I'm really annoyed and frustrated. I expect a hotfix within the week from Garmin but it would be nice to have it by tomorrow.

  • I had a response to the call i logged on Garmin UK. Jack emailed me to enquire whether i was still having the issues, which ones etc etc

Replied with the timeline of my issues and what i'd done to try and resolve the problems

Also mentioned that it wasn't an isolated problem as there were comments on this Forum

So we'll see how long Jack takes to reply, buit hopefully he would have lookd on here, realised this is affecting a lot of people (as well as other Garmin devices) and escalate it up so someone con get something done and quick

  • We have identified the issue and we are actively working on a resolution. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and I will update the forum post when we have a resolution.

Yes same issue, but as an interim fix (rather than revert to firmware 5.10 that is quite a lot of hassle), I found that disabling the Bluetooth connection to my IPhone worked. Try it while we wait for Garmin to produce a new version of the firmware. Hope this helps. Cheers from Bristol UK.

Fate in fretta, ci basta già la reclusione COVID a renderci nervosi.
