I'm using Edge 500 with brest belt heart rate sensor. Is there a more comfortable sensor version for wrist or fingers?

I hope that Edge 500 and 520 are similar enough for my question to make sense also here in the Edge 520 forum.

My current wireless heart rate sensor from Polar works fine with my Edge 500, but I don't like the effort before any cycling, to "install" it below my clothes. Therefore quite often I just don't use it.

A wireless sensor reading the heart rate from my wrist or my fingers would be much more comfortable.

Is there something like that using the same wireless protocol with my Edge 500? And if possible, not an expensive health checking system, if I may say so, but just something simple and cheap measuring and transferring the heart rate.

Thanks for any help.

I use a Scosche Rhythm +  armband ANT+ HRM that connects with my Garmin 520+ with no issues.  I don't like the chest straps versions and find this works perfectly for me.  I think it also connects via Bluetooth

  • Any HR sensor that transmits over ANT+ should work.

A number of the newer Garmin watches with OHRM will broadcast HR data. But the wrist isn't a great  place to measure HR - there is not a large blood supply, and vibration from handlebars can lead to errors.

The Scosche Rhythm is a good suggestion, as it measures higher on the arm, and is less subject to vibration.
