Help with corrupt fit file

Might as well start a thread for this like they have over in the 500 forum.

I've only had my 520 for a week, and I really like it. The only issues I've had so far are that sometimes the bluetooth requires me to restart on the device to work properly, and then tonights FIT file is really corrupt so I can't load it over to strava.

The online FIT tool doesn't fix it, and then I opened it in golden cheetah. It seems the timestamps are all whacky, where it should be increasing every second, but it looks like the stamps are becoming integer overflows. The data is there, I just don't know of a way to edit all of the timestamps by just setting them as monotonically increasing seconds after they start getting corrupt in the file.

Any ideas?

Hi Mike, I competed in K2 today. My fit file failed to sync with "Invalid File Format .fit file not recognised" or similar.

Would you please be able to take a look and see if it has a problem…

My garmin Edge 520, in last weeks doesnt work correctly, boot, reset and now this.

Please help me, anyone with the same problem?

I bought my device in may-2017, I think that its ok or not?

hi Javier.tapia89,

Not much I can do with that file as it doesn't contain a single data record.

How many completed and uploaded activities are still on your device? If it's any more than a months worth then archive them off to folder on your computer.

Another option is to do a factory reset on your device but google first what files to save and how to restore them so you don't have to set your screens up again.

I have what I think is a corrupt file. I rode a 200 mile bike race over the weekend and it is not showing my GPS track, max. elevation, or temp. The rest of the data seems ok. But, without the GPS data, I can't send it over to Strava. There is no GPX file. Is this something the Fit File Repair Tool might be able to fix?

Hello everyone,

I have a very important ride (LOTOJA) that is throwing an invalid format. (The battery died right during the save process). I've tried an online repair tool, but I can't get it to successfully upload. Could anyone assist? The file size exceeds the limit for this board. Road=415.41 miles
MTB=1235.1 miles
Trainer=84 miles

hi John,

It can be done but can you provide the following info as per this screenshot? Time in secs and number of sessions in each profile - if you can work out the calories then it will be all that more accurate.
