Help with corrupt fit file

Might as well start a thread for this like they have over in the 500 forum.

I've only had my 520 for a week, and I really like it. The only issues I've had so far are that sometimes the bluetooth requires me to restart on the device to work properly, and then tonights FIT file is really corrupt so I can't load it over to strava.

The online FIT tool doesn't fix it, and then I opened it in golden cheetah. It seems the timestamps are all whacky, where it should be increasing every second, but it looks like the stamps are becoming integer overflows. The data is there, I just don't know of a way to edit all of the timestamps by just setting them as monotonically increasing seconds after they start getting corrupt in the file.

Any ideas?

    Hi Mike,
Seems that my Edge 520 screw this file up. Ended my tour today with Miles instead of Km (???), and although the activity is correct on the Edge 520 when displaying on it, it shows flat ascent, HR and power on GC (the map is OK though), does not upload to Strava and gives strange figures on Training Peak (except the summary that is correct). Any possibility to fix for Strava? Thanks a lot!

    hi James,

All my repairs are done using the Fit File Repair Tool which I have a license for.

    cheers

Mike sorry to ask but I dont have a PC (use a Mac) and dont have access to Access. Wondered if you could work your magic on this last file - the return journey from Lands End (well it was Penzance when I started my Garmin again) all the way to John O Groats. Same issue as before - the interval was too small so I cant load it into Training Peaks. If you can fix it Ill be able to look at the data in TP and gain useful insights. Thanks very much. HI James,

I've made it a '5 sec smart recording' so it should now upload. IF it doesn't, then let me know and I will make it a 10 sec smart recording.

    Give this file a try.

    cheers

Mike, yes this loads and I am able to see all the power and gps data. Thanks SO much for doing this. Its really nice to see someone helping out with these. Means I can get proper data from my World Record ride. Cheers.
  • Mike, the file link seems to be broken. Can you provide a right link please? Thank You.

    Hi,

I would be really grateful if someone could sort this corrupt file out for me. Didn't think I was riding at lightspeed end ended up in 2080!

I tried using fit file tools but it didn't work. May be my lack of technical ability....

    Thanks,

    Mike
