Help with corrupt fit file

Former Member
Might as well start a thread for this like they have over in the 500 forum.

I've only had my 520 for a week, and I really like it. The only issues I've had so far are that sometimes the bluetooth requires me to restart on the device to work properly, and then tonights FIT file is really corrupt so I can't load it over to strava.

The online FIT tool doesn't fix it, and then I opened it in golden cheetah. It seems the timestamps are all whacky, where it should be increasing every second, but it looks like the stamps are becoming integer overflows. The data is there, I just don't know of a way to edit all of the timestamps by just setting them as monotonically increasing seconds after they start getting corrupt in the file.

Any ideas?

    Hello Marcel,

You did not specify the correct date for your file so I guessed at the day before your post making it Nov 29, 2016.
The time in the file was 1am which is probably incorrect but I left it at 1am.
Here ya go. Fixed with the Fit File Repair Tool.

    Hello AJ,

I would love to get a nice reward BUT your file is a total mess. There are a couple kms at the start and a couple more at the 20km area that could be fixed but all the rest of the data is corrupt. I did not fix your file. :(

    Help with FIT file

Hello, could anyone help me with a few issues please.
    1. Is there a FIT file repair tool that anyone knows that works with Mac computers?
    2. If not could someone with a bit of spare time run this through their PC for me? I would be grateful.
    3. If no Mac repair tool available, how are Mac users repairing files?

Thanks for help on any of these issues. WN

    Hello Kbwangtw,

It appears that you started riding before the device got a good satellite lock. There were no coordinates for the first 90 seconds and that corrupted the headers including the device info. Since you posted in the Edge 520 forum I put your device in the file as an Edge 520. I can change it later if it's wrong. The rest of the data looks good. Fixed with the Fit File Repair Tool.
