Firmware 12.80 - GPS fix now takes 30 mins

Updated last week and for 2 of my 3 rides it has taken 20 - 30 mins to get a GPS fix...switched on\off several times also checked that GPS was still selected - so have been forced to use my phone instead GPS was acquired within seconds. The 520 had always worked fine before updating to the latest software but now its become useless!! Anyone else had this problem?
  • Do your Edge have an About menu where you can check the status of your EPO.BIN file? Does it show "Current" or "Expired"?

Did you recently connect your Edge to a PC which runs Garmin Express version 6.7.2.0? If so, update Garmin Express to version 6.8.1.0 or newer, connect your Edge to the PC, find the EPO.BIN file in the file system of your Edge and delete it (in my Fenix 5X+, it is found in the Garmin/RemoteSW folder). Then do a new synchronization with Garmin Express.

I can't promise that the above will help for the Edge, but Garmin Express 6.7.2.0 has been known to put a bad EPO.BIN on several Garmin other devices, and this would result in longer GPS acquisition times.
  • Thanks for the reply...i'll try this when I get back later
