Is it possible to plug in an external battery pack and charge the 520 Plus while it's being used? If yes - what setting do i have to enable to do so. My 520 Plus would go into the charging mode and cannot be used whenever i plug in the battery pack.

Oh it worked for me now. I actually had it plugged into the computer and it went into usb mode. But when i used a battery pack it worked.
  • worked for me today. i was down to 8% for a ride today. i called my wife who met me with a mini battery and cable. rode home connected still recording my ride.
  • sure...i do this all the time. i learned when my 3 yer old 520 couldn't last 2 hours on a ride. I slap a lipstick LiPo battery under my stem and run a cable to the 520 plus. Rode on an 8 hours century door to door with an 1100 milli amp hr battery. backlight on continous at 70% the whole time. arrived home with 98% charge in the 520 plus. This takes all the worry out of settings, backlight, etc. so for a short recreational ride forget the extra battery...but when going for a day long excursion slap on extra power and no fear of runnning out of juice. btw, garmin makes a $129 aux battery and hotshoe for the 1030. My solution was $12 amazon... look for Anker lipstick battery.
