EDGE 520 turns off after 20 secs constantly

Hi, I hope that someone can help.

I have factory reset my Edge 520 but now it keeps turning off after 20 seconds. Its fully charged. I turn it on, and no matter what its doing will turn off 20 secs later. This is true if idle or as if I set up to track a ride. I have tried to see if I can format the device, but neither my mac or pc can detect the device when I plug it in.

any ideas how I can fix this?

thanks
Stephen
  • Hi,
Try the following on your PC (not on the MAC at 1st):
    Force to Mass Storage:
    • Power the device off
    • Press and hold the lap button while plugging into usb
    • Wait 10 seconds and device should go to mass storage
After if it works, do a full format (not quick format, so uncheck this box in explorer or in other any file manager) , unplug it (and always unmount as usb device in windows/Mac the 520 before unplug it ) and power on and check the 520 again.

The 2nd option is that the battery is dead or partial faulty and when you unplug the cable, it has only 20secs.

I tried these actions but my computer doesnt seem to detect the presence of the unit. Im sure the device is in mass storage mode but its not appearing in explorer, desktop or anywhere. Any thoughts?

    Thanks in advance!

I have reset the 520 and in the set up didnt connect the blutooth to my phone. This has seemingly resolved the power issue and the unit no longer powers off; when I try to reconnect bluetooth the issue returns.

does anyone know how to resolve this?

Given this blue tooth development I am going to open a new thread on this.

Hi Stephen, I am having the exact same issue (first the power reboot issue, now the blue tooth). Did you find a solution?
