Garmin edge 520 questions

I am the proud owner of a new Garmin edge 520 bundle. My questions:
1. Is there a way to show the "pace"?
2. Is there a way after a ride, reading SUMMARY/ "Time in HR zones" to have "PERCENTAGE of time in HR zones"?
3. Is there a way to have the MILLEAGE of my bike adding the milleage my old bike had before bying the g.edge 520?
4. Can I change profile after starting a ride in a wrong profile?
5. I noticed that "grade" and "elevation" are not accurate at all. Most of the time show "ascent" instead of the (true) descent or vice versa. Show +3% instead of the obvious -7% for example. Can this be fixed or we just have to live with it?
6. Can I create a NEW PROFILE based on an already excisting profile and making the changes I want?
Thank you all!
  • 1. You mean the average speed? Yes, there is a datafield for that.
    2. Yes, Connect mobile app and web view both have that on the activity page
    3. Not really. You can connect your Edge to a computer and edit DRIVEOFEDGE:\Garmin\Totals\Totals.fit with a FIT file editor for the profile (but not for the bike, which is gear). For gear, I helped myself by manually creating activities with the missing mileage.
    4. AFAIK, no.
    5. Don't know, sorry.
    6. AFAIK, no, but I maybe wrong.
  • 3. It's pity that there is no ODO for bikes, but for service and maintanace distance you can use gear > bike and increase a new gear max distance every time you service a bike.

Hey guys. I have a question about Edge 520. Do i still get turn by turn navigation on my route transferred from computer if i replace basemaps with openstreetmap on the garmin device?

Yes, for the 520 the turn guidance is totally based on the cue list added to the route file by the planning software. The map is not used at all for turn directions. You can have no map.

I use GC but also run SportTracks for offline use and much better analysis. It has an ODO function based on how many miles were on the equipment when first activated (i.e. doesn't have to start at "0"). Great software...
