Upgrade from 130 to 520?

I have had an Edge 500 for almost a decade. It's been great and used on several bikes. It's kind of unpleasant to change the setting between two bikes so I bought a 130 to use on my road bike and the 500 will stay on the MTB.

Before I ordered it, I failed to note that the 130 does not allow multiple bikes / profiles. My bad there. I had planed to use it for real rides and trainer rides on the same bike, but I prefer to keep two separate running Odometers- so already this 130 was not really able to do what I wanted.

Now I discovered that you cannot set the Odometer like every other computer I have used.

So I am thinking about sending it back and getting a 520. Can anyone who has one confirm a couple of things for me?

1. Can I set the Odometer(s)?
2. Can I set two profiles for one bike, one for road rides and another for trainer, using the same ANT+ Sensors (Speed, Cadence, and sometimes HR)?

Thanks.

    1. Each activity profile has its own odometer, but you can't change the distance on the device.
    2. Sensors are paired independently of the activity profiles, so will be picked up whenever you use them. This does mean though, that if you use a speed sensor, and have bikes with different size wheels, you will have to set the wheel size when you change bikes. (Or use the automatic setting).

Thanks Dave-L. That is pretty much what I thought.

Turns out my little crash last weekend broke one of the tabs off of the the bottom of my 500. So now I need a new plan.

  • I keep track of bikes in app works perfectly no need to do it on the device.
