Can you pan the maps on the 520 Plus (i.e. move left/right, up/down) or just zoom?

Can you pan the maps on the 520 Plus (i.e. move left/right, up/down) or just zoom in and out, like on the old 520 and Wahoo Elemnt Bolt? That would be a major plus for me if it can. Thanks!
  • On the 1000 you can Pan so I rather presume that you can on later models

You never know with Garmin, I'd rather have confirmation! Also how easy is it to zoom in and out of the map? If on the map screen view, do the +/- buttons default to this functionality or do you have to go through menus?
  • Menu for zoom. They should fix this. Dagerous using menus while riding

The 1000 has a touch screen also. The 520/520+ don't.

If you want this functionality, the 520+ might not be the best choice.

The 520+ and the 820 might be a bit slow for heavy navigation use.

  • If the manual zoom selection were sticky it would be simple to just click on zoom and use the up/dn arrows to zoom the map. It works great, just seems like menu picks could be reduced.

For complex navigation on the fly I'd whip out my phone and plan a route in Komoot or similar and send it to the device, I don't want a large device like the 1030 on my bars.

No one has comfirmed yet whether you can pan the map on the device at all or not - can you?
  • No, you cannot pan the maps in the 520+. Auto and manual zoom only around current location.

You added the "on the fly" stuff. It wasn't what I said.

If you are zooming and panning the map regularly, the 520+ (and the 820) aren't the best choices.

You should see if the 820 would work better for you.
