Turn OFF Firmware Update Notification

Hi,

I have 520 on 12.20 and not willing to upgrade to newer ones (keeping in mind lots of battery issues with 12.50 (that are resolved (or not?) in 12.60).
Unfortunately every time I turn the unit on I get a reminder to install newest software. I can install it or postpone.
There is no way to "Skip" the version (as 935 does, for example).
Pretty annoying.

Is there any way to dismiss this upgrade notification?

Thank you!

PS: Searched the forum and found no answer, wierd that it is only me wishing to skip the update.

Replace gupdate.gcd file on garmin with emty one.
  • Possibly. This is a theory.

The gupdate.gcd file in the 520edge root directory is the update that automaticslly downloads, and its trying to upgrade from.
delete it, and it will just re-download.

    1. Take note ofmsize, then erase it.
    2. Purge your fit files to free up space.
    2. Look up dcrainmaker?’s map guide, download and build a map of your region that fills up your edge 529 to the point there is no space to redownload the update... while still maintaining a bit of space for activity fit files.
  • Other possibility: Patch the firmware 12.2 changing it to 12.65, till the 12.70 will be out, GE, WU and GCM will not even try to download the new firmware.

  • Thanks all of you. Unfortunately the same date you posted (12.05) I occasionally clicked when it offered and update.
So I now have 12.60 which I am not happy with (looks I have battery drain - killed 11% in 40 mins with 30% backlight).

    Thanks anyway!
